A woman died. When she arrived at Heaven’s gate she learned she had a choice. She could go to heaven or she could go to hell. She asked to see them both before she made up her mind.An angel took her up to Heaven, to a large, crowded canteen. On the tables were large serving bowls and spoons about 1 metre long. The people there were happily laughing and talking. They all seemed well fed and contented. She watched for a moment then asked to see Hell. The angel took her to an identical crowded canteen. The same serving bowls and long spoons were on the tables, but here the people seemed sullen and resentful. They were thin and hungry looking.“These places are the same, yet the people are so different!” she exclaimed. “Why is it so?” The angel replied “You’ve seen the spoons. The difference is that in Hell people try to feed themselves whereas in Heaven they feed each other.”
