PERSONAL EXECUTIVE COACHING

Top performing management is critical to the success of any organisation. Managers face a unique set of challenges and need special solutions and skills. Leading Edge Change provides confidential one-on-one coaching for directors and senior management, helping them find their own special talents to make the changes that take business forward.

How does coaching help?

We are all born with a brain, but without an instruction manual. Often we are trapped in the cage of our habitual thinking and behaviour. However, effective ways of thinking and using our brain can be taught.

Sometimes we doubt that the status quo can be successfully changed. The essence of useful change lies in having both creativity and access to a greater number of choices.

We help clients develop awareness that all things have a structure, and that change is always possible. We promote awareness that there is always more than one perspective in any situation. We help them to see the range of possibilities, not just probabilities.

We focus on each client’s specific issues and challenges, probing assumptions and challenging thinking. As a result the client is able to find new, effective solutions. Then each individual is able to make the personal changes needed to achieve their desired outcomes.

What are the common issues?

Common issues explored include:

  • Clarification of key objectives, building an action plan
  • Getting and staying motivated, and motivating others
  • Dealing with obstacles and moving forwards
  • Strategy, delegation and results delivery
  • Changes needed when moving up the organisation
  • Networking, relationships and conflict resolution
  • Management challenges
  • Delivering sustainable change
  • Career management
  • Work/life balance, stress and overload.

How does coaching work?

Coaching normally takes place over a series of one-on-one meetings between the client and the coach. Objectives are agreed at the outset, and reviewed as the relationship progresses.

As all matters discussed during the coaching are completely confidential, the client is able to explore issues honestly and openly.

How long does coaching last?

Some clients find that their issues can be resolved in one or two sessions. Others prefer a longer relationship. The most common number of sessions is six.

How do I find out if it’s for me?

A world champion was asked why he thought that he, from among all the other gifted hopefuls, had made it to the top. What did he have that the others didn’t?

The champion gave three answers. He said “First you’ve got to want it enough. Second you need discipline to work at developing and nurturing your talent. And third, you need humility.

No matter how good you are you need the humility to listen to others, seek advice when you need it and try new ways of doing things.

You need to ask for and take feedback from wherever you can.

“This is what makes the difference between a champion and the rest.”
