NLP in Business

What is NLP?

NLP is the study of what works in thinking, language and behaviour. It is a way of coding and reproducing excellence that enables you to consistently achieve the results that you want both for yourself, for your business and for your life. (from NLP at Work, by Sue Knight).

Why are self imposed limitations a problem for business?

We all have ideas about what is possible and what is not, often learned when we are young or impressionable. Very often such thinking results in self-imposed limitations that stop us from performing at our best. NLP shows people how to challenge and manage their own thinking. This results in more powerful and resourceful individuals.

How else can NLP help in business?

NLP has a proven track record to helping to increase success in business by changing the way that the people in business think, act and react. It’s many uses include:

  • Motivating people to higher performance
  • Team building
  • Confidence
  • Clarity of goals and how to achieve them
  • Sales improvements
  • Communication and interactive skills
  • Presentations
  • Relationship building
  • Conflict resolution; and
  • Stress management.

The baby elephant tugged and tugged at the slender rope tethering his leg to a wooden stake a few feet away.

He longed to take off and explore the jungle around him, but no matter how hard he tugged, the rope wouldn’t break.

Eventually he learned it was no use, and settled down every time the rope was attached to his leg.

Years later the elephant had grown tall and strong.

Every day he worked hard, hauling loads of logs from the forest to the river. Then each evening his handler would tether him to the stake again.

In his heart, the elephant still longed to take off and explore the jungle freely, but he knew he couldn’t break the slender rope tying him to the stake.
